Membership

We have monthly work parties at both Swanage and Ropley (MHR). Although there is often work going on at other times. A programme of work is usually planned for work party dates, with opportunity to learn new skills. Existing members have many years experience in diesel locomotive maintenance. All that is needed to begin is a pair of overalls and strong (preferably steel toecap) shoes. Anyone interested in practical work is most welcome, no previous experience is required. 71A operates within both Railways Health & Safety policies.

Support Group Membership

Support group members do not own any shares in 33012 but can assist with the maintenance and operation of the locomotives. Support group members are welcome at all group events including our AGM, but they do not receive voting rights. The cost of support group membership is £10 per year. Spitfire

Shareholders and Support Group members will receive our in house newsletter “Spitfire” which as well as containing all the group news has articles and details of all other class 33’s in preservation.
